Attacking

Unfortunately, conflict is inevitable on Ashenfall. You will need to hit things with clubs, stab them with daggers and impale your foes with a volley of carefully crafted arrows.

There are three main combat styles, magic, ranged and melee, each one has its strengths and its weaknesses.

Magic attacks are capable of generating powerful side effects, air magic can knock something back, fire magic can burn your enemies to a crisp. However, you will need a steady supply of runes to keep casting spells.

Ranged attacks can snipe enemies from afar, but you’ll need to make sure you don’t run out of arrows.

Melee attacks get up close and personal, but you won’t need to worry about ammunition to lay the smackdown on that uppity little goblin – not Zanik – who’s been giving you lip.

When engaged in battle, keep an eye on your stamina, as each attack will cost you some of it. As you level up your combat skills, you’ll be able to deal longer combo chains to more efficiently use your stamina.
