The Staff of Light is a power level 4 Masterwork staff. You get its recipe from the side quest Highlighting the Problem in Brynmoor and craft it at the Mystic Forge.

The Draconic Staff trades durability for crit chance. The Staff of Light just hits harder. The next staves up are the power level 5 Splitbark Staff (5.4x) and Necromancer's Staff (5.9x).

Step 1: complete Highlighting the Problem

The quest starts when you interact with a wizard statue in Brynmoor (see it on the map).

Objectives, in order:

  1. Investigate the area for clues about the statue.
  2. Search the Runecrafting Guild for a statue.
  3. Find a way to charge the mysterious orb. The quest gives you a Mysterious Orb (uncharged) at this step.
  4. Return to the wizard statue with the charged orb.

Handing in the charged orb completes the quest and unlocks the Staff of Light recipe. Our data doesn’t say how the orb gets charged. The wiki quest page, linked below, has a walkthrough; it says you’ll need Windstep for parts of it.

Step 2: build the Mystic Forge

The Mystic Forge unlocks when you pick up your first Bronze Bar. It costs 6 Bronze Bars, 20 Ash Logs, 8 Coarse Thread and 1 Vault Core. You also need it later to ascend Masterworks and Vestiges to higher power levels.

Step 3: craft the Staff of Light

Mystic Forge, 100 Artisan XP:

IngredientAmountWhere it comes from
Blightwood16Blightwood Roots (21 in Bloodblight Swamp); Beartach sells it for 9 Garou Chit

Eight Wild Anima from the Kiln take 32 Anima-infused Bark. The bark has 394 pickup spots in Fractured Plains, and Domri sells it for 18 Garou Chit each. The Wildcaller Druid in Fractured Plains drops 1 Wild Anima per kill.

You need 2 Vault Cores in total if you haven’t built the Mystic Forge yet. Our Vault Shards guide covers the 12 shards, and the recipe calculator totals the rest.
