Dragonwilds Progression Guide: Region Order, Bosses and Armour Tiers
The full Dragonwilds route from Brynmoor to the Scorned Wilderness, with each story quest, boss health and the armour tier to aim for, from the game files.

Dragonwilds doesn’t put a level number on its regions. It gives you a main quest per region, a boss at the end of it, and an armour tier that decides whether you survive the next region. This guide lines those three things up.
Region order is from Jagex’s own update history. Quest steps, boss health and armour stats come from the game files.
The route at a glance
| Stage | Main quest | Boss | Armour to aim for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brynmoor and Ghornfell | Dragon Slayer | General Velgar, 6,000 HP | Iron Platebody (Tier 4) |
| Fellhollow | Withering Heights | Imaru, 14,000 HP | Steel Platebody (Tier 5) |
| Dowdun Reach | Black Knight's Fortress | The Gatekeeper | Mithril Platebody (Tier 6) |
| Umbral Sands | Icthlarin's Little Helper | Fuzan, 16,000 HP | Adamant Platebody (Tier 7) |
| Scorned Wilderness | Regicide | Kuldra | Rune Platebody (Tier 8) |
Each body armour tier adds exactly 10 defence: Iron 35, Steel 45, Mithril 55, Adamant 65, Rune 75. The Dragon Platebody tops the list at 85. The Mithril, Adamant and Rune sets ship in the Dowdun Reach, Umbral Sands and Scorned Wilderness content packs, which is how we matched the tiers to regions.
Brynmoor and Ghornfell: Dragon Slayer
The opening quests teach the loop: collect dirty water, build a crafting table, make a stone club, then a stone logging axe, then a bed. Do them. They unlock the stations you need anyway.
Dragon Slayer is the real first chapter. You set up in Bramblemead village, siege the goblin castle, follow Cathan through the swamp and into Ghornfell, then craft a Challenge Horn to summon Velgar. He’s the first dragon and the gentlest at 6,000 health.
My rule for this stage: don’t leave for Ghornfell in bronze. Get a full iron set from the Armour Bench first. Hard leather is part of a lot of iron recipes, so our hard leather guide is worth a read.
Fellhollow: Withering Heights
Withering Heights starts with the Wise Old Man near Ashien’s Watch and a strange door that leads you to Death. From there you enter Fellhollow, cleanse a Soul Rift at a Purification Pool and track three curse fragments using the standing stones. It ends in the Shattered Spire against Imaru.
Imaru has 14,000 health, more than twice Velgar. Steel is the tier to be wearing when you go in.
Fellhollow is also where hard leather scraps drop from the undead cows, and where Zogres roam. Both are worth farming while you’re there.
Dowdun Reach: Black Knight’s Fortress
Cathan meets you at Fellhollow’s eastern gates. The quest sends you to the Wise Old Man and Doric in Dowdun Reach, then has you collect 13 shards of the Dreaming Stone around the region before you fight the Gatekeeper.
This is where Mithril, Blue Dragonhide and the Black Knight armour come in, all Tier 6. The Blue Dragon lives here too, at 4,000 health.
Umbral Sands: Icthlarin’s Little Helper
The desert quest starts with Shangruuh, the Alcarrid Envoy, in the passage from Dowdun Reach. You earn the trust of the Moon Garou elders to collect their Mirror Lenses, then enter the Fight Caves to take on Fuzan, the toughest dragon in the data at 16,000 health.
Umbral Sands has its own optional heavyweights. The Kalphite Queen has 7,800 health in her flying form, and Tok-Xil has 7,000. Adamant, Red Dragonhide, Infinity and Obsidian gear are all Tier 7 and all come from this region.
Scorned Wilderness: Regicide
The 1.0 endgame. Regicide sends you to Commander Zilyana, then into the Scorned Wilderness to defeat Kuldra. Rune, Dragon, Black Dragonhide and Ancestral armour are the Tier 8 sets here. Go in with the best Tier 7 gear you can make. Kuldra is the last fight in the story.
When to move on
The data gives a clean way to decide: if you can craft the next armour tier from what you’re already finding, you’re ready for the next region. If you’re still missing a material for your current tier, stay and farm.
Use the database to plan it. Every armour page shows its recipe and unlock condition, and every boss page lists its health, attacks and drops, plus weaknesses and weak points where the game data has them.
